Let’s face it. Instagram is where it’s at. With over 600 million active users monthly, it’s no surprise that it has become one of the most competitive and sought after platforms for brands to share their products and ideas.
If you’ve spent any significant amount of time studying Instagram strategies, you’ve noticed that the most successful accounts are well-curated, provide content the audience is looking for, and have beautiful, consistent imagery. And somehow, so many of them just happen to have these bright, colorful walls to take photos against and make their feeds unforgettable.
After all, Instagram is a visual platform. Visuals should always be the focus.
That’s all well and good, but how do you create that consistency AND stay on-brand? Especially for entrepreneurs starting out, we need to also keep the cost of these growth strategies under control.
I’ve got a super affordable and crazy easy Instagram hack to get followers to recognize your brand every time they’re scrolling through their feed.
First thing’s first: You need to know your brand. If you’ve been at this entrepreneurial thing for a while, you should already have this part under control. If you’re still new, that’s okay! I’ll show you mine as an example.

This is my brand board!
Your brand board is a handy dandy little reminder for you to keep your brand colors, fonts, and inspiration in the forefront of your mind when you’re creating your Instagram strategy. You can make something like this for free on Canva, or you can use Photoshop if you’ve got it.
Here’s where we get to the hack part:
Head to your local home improvement store with your brand board saved to your phone. Keep this close! You’ll be referencing it throughout your whole trip.
Grab a couple of pieces of plywood, a nice paint brush, and make your way to the Painting section of the store. Then, you can either search for a paint swatch that matches your brand colors, or you can show your brand board to the technician working in this department to help you create the perfect color for your brand.
You’ll only need a couple of paint samples, so don’t get all wide-eyed looking at the prices of the quart and gallon.
This hack to get Instagram followers to recognize your brand with every single post you make cost a whopping $25, with the paint brush included in that price.
Now, I can use these branded backdrops for modeling products from sponsors, showing off my healthy food bowls, and whatever else I need to post on Instagram to connect with my tribe.
Easy peasy, right?
And that’s not all! Take some extra time to walk around the rest of the home improvement store, and see if there’s anything else that can make your brand’s IG posts pop.
Maybe you’ve got a health/fitness inspired brand. Grab some fresh looking tropical plants to infuse some summer into your posts.
Maybe you’re a luxury brand and could use a metallic touch in your posts. Grab a can of gold spray paint and some stencils to step up the glam factor.
Maybe you’ll be doing a lot of flatlays and want a pretty piece of marble to put under your products.

Can you believe this gorgeous marble 1’x1′ slab was less than $2??

Hi Tiffani! Great tips!! I put a lot of black and white in my brand because those are the colours I have most of at home… but I’m going to use this and get a purple! SO nice to see you blogging on Yes Supply. Didn’t know you were a contributor <3
