The gorgeous Corinne is taking over Good Morning Beautiful this week, sharing her magical recipes on how she practices self-love, stays true to her self, and keeps up her positive mindset day that she uses to empower women around the globe.
She and her co-owner recently launched SHAKTIBARRE, the first yoga-barre studio actively empowering women from every cultural and socioeconomic background to practice yoga from their new studio that’s launching in the coolest neighborhood of Brooklyn, NYC.

It’s so incredible to have you on yes supply, and taking over the good morning beautiful ‘love letters’ for the week! Can you introduce yourself to the community?
Hey, I’m Corinne Wainer, CAO + Co-Founder of SHAKTIBARRE. I’m an educational psychologist and registered yoga teacher in New York. As director of YoGirls Program and CAO of SHAKTIBARRE Women’s Collective, Corinne works actively and purposefully to empower women’s wellness education.
What is Shaktibarre all about?
SHAKTIBARRE WOMEN’S COLLECTIVE is a studio supporting women from every spectrum with yoga and barre classes at sliding-scale prices, an organic cafe and workspace, plus empowering events for accessible, sustainable wellness. We also proudly sponsor YoGirls Program!
What are some of your morning rituals?
WATER W/ LEMON OR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, TEA WHILE MEDITATING, JOURNALING, A SHAKTIBARRE CLASS, AND A LOOOOONG WALK! REALLY, I DON’T START UNTIL THIS IS ALL DONE.
How does starting your day the right way impact your whole day, week, and complete lifestyle?
You know that pop-culture term “hangry?” Well, I’m working on a word that adequately describes what happens when goddesses don’t attune to their inner spirit before engaging with the world.
I’m aware that my life-long journey to overcome an eating disorder, exercise addiction, and general anxiety can affect my ability to shine, and share light with others, if not faced deeply and authentically before I start my day. So all jokes aside, I take self-care very seriously because my thought is always – might there be a woman out there who forgot to do hers? We are all connected so starting our day right ensures a most powerful sisterhood.
What is your MISSION STATEMENT? How are you going to change the world/other people’s lives and make a positive impact?
I believe every woman, regardless of age, body type, ethnicity, religious affiliations, and socioeconomic status, deserves profound wellness. The yoga industry is 76% White women and 44% of them in NYC make over $75,000 annually ~ SHAKTIBARRE is the first of hopefully many studios with an active social mission to change these statistics.
What are the steps it took you to get to where you are now?
The most important step was to face myself. Second, to relate my joys and struggles not only to women close to me, but women I have never even met or have met and felt tension with. Then, I turned all this lovely intention into a measurable business by educating myself, sweating nearly every second of the day, and stopping at nothing!
What is your YES! What kind of life do you want to live in?
I say YES and AM living a life where absolutely anything is possible. We can use the fact 82% of yogis are female as a starting point to close gender gaps through wellness, education, and empowered sisterhood.
We want to keep up with you! Where can we find you online?
Shakibarre is launching mid-august but they’re offering FREE CLASSES every TUES from 12-1 at Athleta Flatiron – so if you know (or are) a gal who wants to get consciously toned on your lunch break, you’ll definitely want to be there! (yoga + barre = SHAKTIBARRE)
