New Year is HERE and while I bet you planned what you’re wearing this Thursday, which party you’re going to and if you’ll toast with Moet or Veuve, have you thought about how to improve personally in 2016?
Personal growth isn’t something that you do once and put it on autopilot. If you want to continue experiencing new opportunities in life and feel like you are moving forward you should always be learning, improving and developing. You might want to become more productive at work or learn new skills or crafts. Don’t get overwhelmed by the big picture, because you can start improving yourself with simple activities each day or pursue goals that might take some time to accomplish. Little changes will eventually snowball into something big! So if you’re someone who longs for more knowledge and growth, here are some steps to help you get started for the new year ahead.
Here Is Way Of How To Improve In 2016 With These Simple Steps:
Start Everyday with Intention
How many of you checked your Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat before rolling out of bed and washing your face. I’ve been up for hours today, checked all of these things and still haven’t. We literally live in a world where what is happening in a tiny phone screen is taking precedence over what is happening in our daily lives. When you wake up in the morning, instead of scrolling for 30 minutes, reflect on what the day is going to be like and set at least 1 goal that you want to accomplish that day. It’s a small start, but it’s important to make sure that you are being produced every day. When you get used to this you can start taking on bigger and better goals.
Take up a New Hobby
Hobbies are a great way of learning new skills and meeting interesting people who share your passions. Is there something you’ve always wanted to try but always put off? Now is the time to get involved. Think about how you want to grow and choose a hobby based on this. For instance, you might wish to get in better shape, so a sport like ice skating, rock climbing, or even just going for a walk outside might be ideal. Or you may want to improve your craft skills, so why not try knitting or learning how to make clothes.
Look for workshops, groups or seminars in your local area to see what they have on offer. There are so many great resources that offer workshops for free! Don’t be afraid to try out new things as they will encourage you to expand and enhance the skills you already have, figure out what you like and don’t like while meeting new people and expanding your network.
Start Positive Habits
It takes 21 days to form a new habit and make it stick. The new year is the perfect time to introduce new habits into your life. This year, I have a goal to read 1 book a month, and the Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg which is on my reading list for March has some great tips to stick with your goals. Some habits you might want to change could include waking up early, writing a daily diary post or reading a chapter in a book each night. Think about the bad habits you currently have and how you can swap them for a positive one instead. There is often a very simple solution to breaking bad habits. And it usually means replacing bad habits with good ones, we just need to be strong enough to enforce them. Change one habit at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Create Realistic To-Do Lists
Whatever goals you set yourself, we all need lists to keep us stay on track. These lists can involve deadlines, goals and significant dates that will assist you in staying organized. It could include your weekly weigh-in totals or a consultation date with a cosmetic dentist. Only you can fill your to-do list so make it realistic. Don’t set yourself deadlines that will be difficult to reach or rush into a consultation without any thought. This is guaranteed to leave you feeling unfulfilled and confused. Which is something that could hinder your progression? Even the simplest of goals can make you feel great and allow yourself time to adjust to ideas and change. It doesn’t have to be done quickly and giving yourself a reasonable time frame will make the process less stressful.
Start Practicing Gratitude
Just as every morning you need to start your day by setting your intentions and goals. So, you can make sure that you keep progressing, every night you should end with double checking you accomplished those and feeling grateful for the amazing things that happened in your life!
Practice gratitude by thinking about the top three things that influenced you, made you feel happy or were pleasant surprises, and start to relive the positive feelings that brought you. You’ll be sure to keep bringing more positivity into your life.
So however you want to grow or improve in 2016, use these steps to make sure you start off right. Stay positive and create goals each week to avoid getting bored or losing focus. Make yourself the best version possible and reap the rewards.
