Manifest Your Dream Work Life With a Goal Setting Planner

For aspiring entrepreneurs, it can be an intimidating atmosphere when they find themselves among successful online business owners. In a place like the Yes Supply Collective, full of inspiring women who are out there achieving their dreams, a newbie entrepreneur might feel like they’ve got “so much” ahead of themselves.

Believe it or not, nothing beats a good old-fashioned goal setting planner for reaching your entrepreneurial goals.

If you ask most of those successful boss babes what their number one piece of advice is for someone who wants to start their own business, you’re going to be told over and over to get a goal setting planner. Whether it is a plain Jane Monday through Friday planner, a stylized planner made specifically for entrepreneurs, or you’re DIYing it with a bullet journal, arguably the most important tool in your entrepreneurial career will be your goal setting planner.

Here at Yes Supply, we’re big fans of planning and goal setting. Even for me — a straight and narrow Capricorn who lives to plan — the act of using my goal setting planner has been the biggest game changer when it comes to turning my dream into a reality.

If you want to actually do what you’re dreaming of doing, you’ll need to actually plan it out and take action.

First thing’s first: What are you doing?

The first step for any entrepreneur who wants to start their business is to turn the budding idea into a concrete plan. This can sometimes be the hardest part — but this is what sets real business owners apart from those “someday” dreamers. Remember: You can’t get started until you know what you’re doing.

Now, don’t think that just because you’ve created a business strategy that you can’t change anything along the way. This is just your jumping off point; you’ll be able to keep things fluid and adapt to your audience as your original business idea evolves. But it’s still very important to at least lay out what the plan is for now, so you have some formula to follow.

Get out that goal setting planner or notebook right now, and write down your “big picture goal.” What is it that you want to do? Are you an aspiring fashion blogger? Are you a business empowerment coach? Are you a health and fitness expert who wants to teach others how to be healthy, too? Whatever it is — write it down in big, beautiful letters right now. Read this page every day. Say it out loud. Close your eyes and see yourself physically living this dream. Repeat it to yourself with confidence and pride. By feeling secure in your dream job and knowing exactly what it is that you want, you’re manifesting this life for yourself.

Now that you know what you’re doing, how are you going to get there?

Maybe you’ve been dreaming and visualizing your dream job for a while now. I know I spent plenty of time at my retail jobs fantasizing about spending the whole day in my pajamas, just writing at my laptop with warm cups of coffee on tap and sharing ethical brands with women who want to learn.

I had the vision crystal clear in my head. The problem was figuring out how to make it happen.

Along with my goal setting planner, the greatest help in breaking me free of the retail world has been the Yes Supply Good Morning Beautiful emails. Having that daily routine and writing it down in my bullet journal keeps me accountable for my thoughts, plans, and actions throughout the day.

Start your day with the Good Morning Beautiful emails, which include the instruction to write down the small step you’re going to take today to get to your big picture goal. Having your seemingly insurmountable dreams broken down into smaller, easily achievable tasks will make the whole start up process so much less daunting for you.

Trust me, as a career-driven perfectionist with chronic anxiety, breaking down the smaller steps with the Good Morning Beautiful emails in your goal setting planner is something that will set you at ease.

Tackling your fear of failure or rejection is key here. Keep reminding yourself that you already are capable of doing whatever it is you’re dreaming.

There’s no fixed date for you to reach the finish line. Take it a day at a time.

If you’re anything like me — hyper critical of yourself and doubtful of your own ability to succeed — this one is going to be a very important part, so listen up.

Your goal setting planner is not set in stone. It is an accountability and planning tool. It isn’t law. You may get started down your path only to realize six months down the line that you’ve reached a fork in your entrepreneurial road. If your heart is pulling you into a direction you hadn’t quite planned, it’s okay! It may even be a better plan for you than you had in the first place.

You’ll grow as a person and as a business owner on this entrepreneurial journey, and that’s a good thing. Stay on track, but don’t be afraid to deviate from the course if the universe is conspiring to design a brand new dream life for you.

How are you using daily goal setting to make your dream work life a reality?
