Imposter syndrome is a silent killer. So many people have the potential to do amazing things, and the only thing holding them back is the thought: ‘Am I an imposter if I try this?
There was a time in my life when I thought success belonged to other people.
I had a big vision and a nudge within that kept telling me I was meant for more.. but a voice in my head would whisper:
“Who am I to do this?”
“What if people find out I don’t actually belong?”
“I need more experience before I can really step into this.”
It wasn’t a lack of ability that was holding me back, it was imposter syndrome.
If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone. Imposter syndrome is something I see so often in our community.
People who have incredible gifts to share, who are more than ready to step into their next level, but instead, freeze.
Not because they aren’t capable.
Not because they aren’t smart enough.
But because they’ve unknowingly hypnotized themselves into believing that they don’t deserve to take up space.
Honestly, you wouldn’t have the vision if you weren’t meant to bring it to life. And it is so sad that imposter syndrome stops so many people reaching their full potential.
Today, I want to break down why imposter syndrome happens, how it’s showing up for you, and how to rewire your subconscious mind to step into success with confidence.
Imposter Syndrome is a term that is gaining more popularity around the world as people everywhere seem to be able to identify with feeling like they are somehow not enough..
In fact the University of Cincinnati estimates that at least 80% of the general population experience impostor syndrome at some point in their lives.
As coaches and leaders you will likely have felt the twang of doubt that imposter syndrome whispers…
So let’s dive into what it is, how it shows up… and more importantly… How to move through it for good.
What is Imposter Syndrome?
At its core, imposter syndrome is a deep seated doubt in your own abilities, even when you have every reason to believe in yourself.
It can disguise itself in many ways:
- Crippling self doubt that makes you second-guess every decision.
- Perfectionism that convinces you nothing is ever good enough to put out into the world.
- Procrastination that keeps you waiting until you feel “ready” (even though that moment never comes).
- Overthinking every move, fearing that someone will “find out” you don’t belong.
Where Does Imposter Syndrome Come From?
When you work with the subconscious mind you learn that doubt is a result of a limiting belief you have about yourself.
Perhaps you don’t feel worthy, or you have a fear of judgement that limits you.. Maybe someone teased you for your success in the past and now it doesn’t feel safe to be successful.
Remember, Imposter syndrome doesn’t appear out of nowhere. (you don’t see babies feeling like imposters, they know they are worthy!)
It’s something we are conditioned to believe.
Let’s dive into that now…
Society Teaches Us to Wait for Permission
When we were kids at school we had to raise our hands just to go to the bathroom.
And so many people are still waiting to raise their hand and get permission to:
- Start their dream business
- Post content online
- Raise their prices
- Share their knowledge
They’re waiting for someone to say, “You’re good enough now.”
But guess what? That moment will never come. Because no one else can give you the permission you need to give yourself.

Fear of Judgment Keeps Us Playing Small
Jess, a YES SUPPLY team member and trainer, shared a story about when she was in dance school at 16.
She auditioned for a performance piece and absolutely nailed it, confidently performing every move. She landed the main role, and everything felt amazing.
But then, something happened.
Some of the older girls didn’t like that she got the role.
And from that moment on? She couldn’t do the turn anymore. The same body, the same ability…but something inside her had shifted.
Why?
Because part of her wanted to shrink down to make other people comfortable.
And I see this all the time… especially with women.
So many of us downplay our skills, our confidence, our power just to keep others from feeling uncomfortable… We start to feel like an imposter so we show up apologetically, underplaying our own value and begin to constantly wonder, am I good enough?
We hold ourselves back from our full potential.

Another big cause of imposter syndrome is, your subconscious believing success is unsafe.
Your subconscious mind is wired to protect you.
If you’ve never reached a certain level of success before, your mind perceives it as unfamiliar, and anything unfamiliar can feel like a risk.
Or perhaps you had a bad experience so your subconscious has made the limiting decision that success is bad.
( This is why you might find yourself procrastinating, second guessing, or even self sabotaging the very things you say you want.)
Your brain starts to think:
- If I become more successful, people might not like me.
- If I charge more, clients might judge me.
- If I step into my next level, I might fail publicly.
And so you stay in your comfort zone, play small and hide from the potential threat of success..
OR, you go for it, but are constantly plagued by the imposter syndrome and it completely drains you.
It is sad to think how many of us never reach our full potential because of imposter syndrome and the way that success can feel so unsafe.
But success doesn’t make you unsafe.
Staying small? That’s what’s actually keeping you stuck.
So how do you shift it?
How to Rewire Your Mind and Get Over Imposter Syndrome
Imposter syndrome is nothing more than a pattern..one that keeps you stuck, waiting for proof that you’re ready.
But what if you stopped looking for proof and simply decided? (With the help of subconscious rewiring techniques!)
- Decided that you’re capable.
- Decided that you’re worthy.
- Decided that you belong in every room you step into.
Right now, imposter syndrome is just old programming.. past experiences, childhood messages, or societal expectations telling you you’re not ready.
But remember, your subconscious believes whatever you repeat to it the most.
If you keep telling yourself, “I’m not good enough” or “I don’t belong here”, your mind will look for evidence to prove it. But if you start reinforcing, “I can figure this out” or “I am worthy of success”, your mind will start making that your reality instead.
Through visualization, repetition, and subconscious techniques like EFT tapping, you can replace self doubt with confidence.
The more you train your mind to support you, the easier it becomes to step into success..until one day, imposter syndrome isn’t even part of your story anymore.
It starts with a choice. Not to wait, but to rewire.
Imposter Syndrome can become an identity, one in which we hide behind, so how about you embody the new identity of the person who says YES, dares to believe in their abilities and trusts that they will figure it out as they go..
I teach you how to do this inside Our New Offer
Regulate Your Nervous System for Success
When your mind sees success as a threat, your body goes into fight or flight mode.
And when you’re in that state?
- You freeze.
- You avoid.
- You doubt yourself.
This is why breathwork, EFT tapping, and subconscious work are so powerful.
They rewire your nervous system so that success feels safe.
Try this:
- Next time imposter syndrome creeps in, take deep breaths and repeat: “It is safe for me to be successful. It is safe for me to be seen.”
- Use EFT tapping to clear limiting beliefs and shift into confidence.

See yourself as already successful
In our chat, Jess shared that when she was shifting from being a dancer to a coach, she struggled to see herself in that new role. (see full video here *link youtube video)
It wasn’t until she did a subconscious mind reprogramming technique called SWISH that everything changed.
She visualized herself as a confident, successful coach.. and suddenly, it felt real.
If you can see yourself as already successful, your brain will work to make it happen.
So ask yourself:
- What does the most confident version of me look like?
- How does she act, speak, and show up?
- What if I started embodying that version of me right now?
Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality.
So if you start seeing yourself as successful? You’ll become that person.
Final Thoughts on Imposter Syndrome:
Be a Participant in Your Success
The difference between people who stay stuck and people who thrive?
One group waits.
The other takes action.
So what will you choose?
You don’t need permission.
You don’t need to feel 100% ready.
The same God that gave you the vision will also give you the opportunities.
All you have to do is step into it.
The good news is, imposter syndrome does not have to dictate your future.
It’s built on outdated beliefs and fears that were never meant to define you.
But you have the power to rewrite the story.
By shifting your mindset, reprogramming your subconscious, and regulating your nervous system, you can step into your success with confidence, knowing deep down that you are already enough.
