I’m sitting in the CUTEST hotel in NYC right now, after a day of shopping, catching up, and prepping for my talk + workshop tomorrow at GIRLBOSS rally, and I can’t believe what an incredible year this has been.
There were ups and downs, not every day was easy, but every day I am creating and living a life that I have designed.
A life where I choose my own hours, work on my own schedule, get to have mid day naps and shopping trips (like today) and travel. This year alone I’ve gone to Bali, Nicaragua, LA, Europe, NY and I’m back to LA next week!
And it ALL started because I said YES to myself.
Often, and especially as women there can be so much guilt, and shame around saying yes to our needs and wants.
Am I being selfish? Am I prioritizing my needs over others?
But what I’ve learned now for myself and for the women I work with is that saying YES to yourself is a MUST. When you say YES to what you want, to your opinion, to your dreams, you shine your own light. You take your life into YOUR OWN hands instead of letting it be dictated for you.
And the moment you do that, you become a leader, darling.
You show other women what’s possible. You give the people you love permission to shine bright, and proof that feeling fulfilled in every capacity IS possible.
But it wasn’t always easy, and I still have to remind myself to go all in for myself often, because the Reese you see now is the most fulfilled and true version of me I’ve ever been, but I used to hide my real wants in the shadows.
There used to be a time where I would say no to myself a lot…
If I wanted a better job I would say in my head “No I couldn’t ever get that job”
If I wanted to charge more, or get a raise I would think “They’ll be mad at me, or say no, if I ask for more money”
And even in social situations, I would have so much anxiety and fear thinking “No, no one is going to like me”
I was ALWAYS bending to what I thought others would want from me, instead of being true to what I needed.
But where did saying NO to myself get me?
No where.
What did thinking “NO I Can’t do that” get me?
NOTHING.
…and to be honest, it didn’t do much for anyone around me either.
Nothing in my life changed until I had an epiphany where I said to myself “Even If the whole world is going to tell me no, I’m going to be the one to say YES to myself”
You gotta have your own back, right?
And I started experimenting.
I started to see it as a game.
I started to show up for things outside of my comfort zone, and I got it. And smashed it.
And I’m going to continue to move up, and have bigger and bigger dreams, set bigger and bigger goals, and make them all happen.
Are you coming with me?
Most importantly, in times where the old me would have said “Oh I don’t deserve help or support, I’ll figure it out on my own” I started to think “No, I deserve it. I’m doing this for me”
And it was when I went ALL in for myself, that I created the business and life of my dreams.
Who knew.
The only thing I needed to go all in for me…was me.
And the rest, the universe provided.

Its so important that we say yes to our own dreams. It always amazes me how many women are their worst enemies talking to themselves in terms that they would not think of saying to their worst enemy. I am glad you made this work for you. It is an awesome story.

I think we all forget to go after what we really want at times. I’ve been there before constantly telling myself no, but once I realized I could go after what I wanted, my mind set changed. Thanks for the reminder to always go after those thing!
