On every podcast and youtube video, these days are talking about the Power of the Subconscious mind. In this post, I’m going to explain What is Hypnosis and how you can actually hypnotize yourself and others to create a better life and habits.
As I mentioned, EVERYONE is talking about the subconscious mind, yet, it’s very few people who know how to tap into it. If you’re a Mindset Coach, or you want to improve your life and lead others, this is definitely a tool you want to have in your tool kit.
Your subconscious mind is responsible for ALL the major functions of your body. Who do you think is operating your lungs right now? Or pumping blood through your body?
It would be a LOT of work and concentration if you had to think about it. All-day you’d be saying “Breath, breathe, breathe!” It takes the proper functions that you must do and turn it into a habitual program that you run 24 hours a day!
And the same goes for all your other processes as well. When you run out the door and remember your purse and your keys, your subconscious knew how to turn that into a habit for you so you could operate on autopilot. Much of driving a car happens on autopilot if you talk with hand gestures, that happens without you consciously thinking of it and the list goes on and on.
Wait?! How Did I Initially Get Hypnotized?
Ahhh…This is where it gets REALLY interesting. See, even if you have never been to a hypnotherapist, you STILL have been hypnotized! In the ages 0-7 your conscious mind has not yet formed yet, so those 7 years of your life you are walking around in a state of hypnosis. EVERYTHING that is happening around you is going right into your mind and is becoming your automatic programs that run on repeat.
That’s why people when they grow up the act so much like their mothers or fathers. It’s because their mother and father downloaded their programs of how to act, talk to people, make money, eat, create a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle and the list goes on.
When you watch TV or look at ANY screen, the flashes of light coming off that screen put you into a state of light trance
So now that you know that you are ALREADY being hypnotized ALL the time, lets put YOU back
Here are some other examples of how you get hypnotized in everyday life:
- When you watch a movie or read a book and you allow yourself to suspend disbelief, you are in hypnosis
- The moment right after you wake up you are in a state of light trance (which is why what you say to yourself in the morning is so important)
- When you listen to any high-level politician- they use something called “Hypnotic Language” that allows them access to your subconscious mind to change and shift your beliefs and emotions.
OK. SO NOW that you know that the government, the media, and even plain old negative self-talk is using hypnosis on you in ways that are entirely out of your control, are you ready to harness hypnosis in a way that you’re putting in the programs you WANT to have running in your mind? What Is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis allows us to speak directly to the unconscious mind which allows any change we want to make more powerful.
Our conscious mind runs about .004% of our daily habits, behaviors, decisions and thought patterns. Our subconscious (or unconscious) mind runs the other 99.996%. If you want to change something about yourself, it’s essential to work with the unconscious mind.
Through hypnosis, we put the conscious mind, and often the body in a nice relaxed state which allows the conscious mind to totally and completely relax which moves it to the side so we can access the unconscious mind.
Then, we can speak directly to the unconscious mind and create suggestions for the unconscious mind to pick up and begin acting out.
As someone in hypnosis, you are in complete control the entire time so you do not need to worry about anything happening to you in hypnosis that you are not in love with. You’ll be in a state that is rather trance-like and you will become more suggestible to the positive suggestions, relaxed and have a heightened sense of imagination. You’ll find yourself very focused on the sound of the voice of your hypnotherapist.
You can use hypnosis to speak directly to the unconscious mind and command it to:
- Make you have a better relationship with money.
- Lose weight.
- Feel confident at work, on dates, or in any social situation.
- Quick bad habits like nail-biting, teeth grinding, skin picking, hair picking, etc.
- Feel happier and more energized.
- Lose the fear of showing up online, doing videos, doing live streams, and public speaking.
- Become a more organized or productive person.
- To release pain, headaches, alleviate pain for birthing, and even can be used instead of anesthesia in certain circumstances.
- People have used hypnosis to release the symptoms or emotions around advanced illnesses! Sometimes to the point that the doctors wonder what happen! When we realize how powerful the placebo effect is, it’s proof of the power of the mind. Keep in mind, if you want to work with a diagnosable medical issue, you’ll want to work with a licensed medical professional or get a referral from them to a hypnotherapist.
… essentially any decision, feeling or behavior that is not serving you can be helped greatly by using hypnosis.
How Does Hypnosis Work?
Although there are many forms of hypnosis (like stage hypnosis) today I’m going to talk about how a typical Clinical Hypnosis session would look.
A hypnosis session typically starts off with the Hypnotherapist explaining to you what Hypnosis actually is, and helps you see that it can massively help you.
Next, the hypnotherapist will show you how your body reacts to what the mind feeds it, and may give you a couple of interesting visualizations that show you how this work- one example is the Lemon Experiment
Next, the Hypnotherapist will find out what you would like to change about your life. If you could have your life look like ANYTHING at all, or you would like to feel something, release something, or uplevel and elevate something, what would those be. You will find yourself telling the hypnotherapist how you would love to act, how much money you would like to bring in, what you would like to feel, the relationships you would like to have, what your ideal day looks like and so much more!
Your hypnotherapist will be documenting this down in detail as this information will be useful when making the changes and suggestions later in your session!
Next, your hypnotherapist will help you into a nice relaxed state. They may do this with certain music, saying things that guide you into a relaxed state and more. Your hypnotherapist may also guide you through a series of actions to allow you to see how well the hypnosis is working on you.
They will make the positive hypnosis suggestions to your subconscious mind and within a few minutes you will find yourself coming back into the room feeling alert, focused, and much happier!
After your hypnosis session, you will experience shifts in the way you act and your behaviors. These are going to be the changes you have wanted to take forever but before the hypnosis, you never could! Hypnosis creates these new patterns of behavior and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do this earlier!
