You want to attract more abundance into your life, but do you know what it really takes to build an abundance mindset? Being in an abundance mindset doesn’t happen once you start making more money… it’s something you have to cultivate from within and feel the energy of before it can show up in your physical reality! Read on to learn my favorite tips for getting yourself into an abundant mindset that becomes a magnet for everything you want!
There are unlimited amounts of money being printed every day.
Money is just an idea.
For most of us, it’s just numbers on a screen (when we log into our online banking).
Which is why it breaks my heart that people can struggle so much, stay in toxic relationships and jobs, and become so depressed all because of money.
Think about it — the United States is billions and billions of dollars in debt — and I can promise you that the president is not crying himself to bed at night over it.
So why should you let your bank account dictate how you feel about yourself?
You deserve to have all the abundance in the world.
You deserve to make as much money as you could possibly need to live out your dreams and have the resources you need to get there!
And I know that if you’re reading this, you’re the kind of person who wants to do so much more with your life than just worry about paying bills.
You want to help and inspire others.
You want to live the kind of life that most people only dream about.
You want to know that when your head hits the pillow at night, you’ve made a positive impact on the world.
I want to share with you how to build an abundance mindset so that you can attract all the money, blessings, and opportunities into your life that allow you to transform your life and the lives of those around you.
Remember that your abundance mindset isn’t just going to show up when you finally get a raise, pay off your debt, or see a certain number in your savings account.
Your abundance mindset starts with you. It starts from within.
When you shift your mindset to make abundance the new rule in your life, you’ll start to see your financial reality shift with it.
Let me show you how to get started in building an abundance mindset!
1. Start Thinking Of Money As A Tool
What if everything you learned about money up to this point was untrue?
What if you discovered that it’s an idea, and a social construct?
Money is a tool created to support you in getting the things you need to live your life the way you want to.
It’s that simple, but we’re not programmed to think that way.
We’re taught that money is something that’s difficult to come by, that we have to work really hard for it, or worse, that it’s evil or dirty.
None of this is helpful when it comes to building an abundance mindset.
So drop all the negativity and even the meanings you have around money and start looking at it as a tool to create experiences.
The only meaning money has to have is the meaning we give it.
Start installing the belief that money was created to support you.
When you change your ideas about what money is, everything changes.
2. Rewrite Your Money Story
One of the things that helped me grow my abundance mindset by leaps and bounds was getting clear on my money story.
Your money story is what you tell yourself, over and over again about your ability to…
…Keep more than enough money.
…And live in a state of abundance.
The story you tell yourself becomes your reality.
But here’s the thing:
It’s JUST a story.
Your money story was passed down to you from your parents or caregivers, which was also likely passed down for generations and generations.
Your money story was taught to you by TV and movies, which probably made you think that all rich people were evil, filthy, greedy, sleazy, and cruel.
Your money story was something you picked up from teachers, other kids at school, or anyone and anything else you saw in your environment growing up.
If you were surrounded by people who weren’t earning their desired amount, you’ve been programmed with those same limiting beliefs and concepts around money, too.
The good news?
You don’t have to believe the story you were told about money. Not at all.
You can rewrite your story around money and choose beliefs that support you in creating the life you want.
Here are some questions to help you discover your money story:
How do I really feel about money?
If money was a person, what kind of relationship do we have?
What are my first memories about money (Parents fighting over it? Working long hours to earn it? Losing it?)
How do I judge money, or judge people who have it?
What feeling does the word ‘money’ create inside my body? Is it of resistance or allowance?
When did I decide that the amount I earn is all that is possible for me?
You can journal on these questions and start to have a deeper understanding of your current programs so you can make rapid shifts.
So many of our beliefs about money stay hidden under the surface and keep us reliving the same patterns and creating the same outcomes over and over until we uncover them.
We don’t even realize they’re there… but they keep playing out in our lives.
(If you want to dive deeper into the subconscious programming you have around money, I have a blog post on how to release money blocks to support you.)
By releasing old beliefs that aren’t serving you, you start to create space for new ones, which is key to cultivating an abundance mindset.
When you let go of your limits and create space for what you want, the Universe loves to fill it with new, higher vibrational things.
3. Become Abundant In Your Mind First
“All of the great achievers of the past have been visionary figures; they were men and women who projected into the future. They thought of what could be, rather than what already was, and then they moved themselves into action, to bring these things into fruition.”
― Bob Proctor
One of the most important lessons I could possibly teach you about building an abundance mindset is that it starts with your thoughts.
In order to attract more abundance into your life, you have to think the thoughts of a person with an abundance mindset.
In other words, you have to believe it BEFORE you can see it.
It all starts in your mind.
Tune into the version of you in the future who’s in an abundance mindset, who’s already achieved your goals, and ask yourself:
What mindset is this version of me in?
What kinds of thoughts are they thinking all day?
What are they focusing their time and energy on?
When you tap into the version of you who already has an abundance mindset, you start to see the difference between where you are now and where you want to be. Then, you realize what thoughts and the actions will get you there… and you can do the work!
If you can slow down your thoughts and observe them throughout your days, you can catch yourself when you’re thinking negative thoughts and replace them with positive, constructive ones that align with an abundance mindset.
The BEST way to do this is working on a subconscious level, and I have a free 5-day mini course that guides you through your subconscious with tools to do the inner work to deeply reprogram yourself!
4. Understand How Value Really Works
One of the things that blocks many people from being in an abundance mindset is that they’re making everything harder than it needs to be.
We’re so conditioned to believe that we have to work really hard for money that sometimes we’re unable to see when there’s an easier way.
I know there’s SO many times that I made things hard on myself without realizing it because that’s how I believed it needed to be.
Let me make this clear:
I started earning more not because I was working harder, but because I improved my abundance mindset and how I feel and think about money.
Making more money has very little to do with hard work, and actually has so much more to do with your energy and the value you bring to others.
The Law of Compensation, which is one of the Universal Laws, states that you will be paid in direct proportion to the need for what you do, your ability to do it, and the inability to replace you.
This is why I’m so passionate about telling everyone to follow their inner guidance when it comes to starting a business or creating the career of your dreams — because your unique story, experiences, and perspective are so valuable — and they make you irreplaceable!
When you start your own business, or create the job you wish existed, your income potential is unlimited.
If you come from a place of service, create an amazing program or offering that helps people, or offer so much value that you’re irreplaceable, abundance will always make its way to you.
The Universe is abundant and there are unlimited resources.
And I really believe if you commit to showing up, doing the work, going outside your comfort zone, and coming to from a place of service to truly help others… you’ll inevitably receive abundance in return.
“The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”
– Jim Carrey
5. Set Specific Goals From A Positive Place
When you’re building an abundance mindset, it’s important to start setting goals and give yourself the practice of pursuing them.
If you don’t set goals and take action, you won’t have the chance to see how far your abundance mindset has come!
Bob Proctor, one of my favorite teachers, talks about how goal creation is an art in and of itself.
Part of this is because the subconscious mind needs specificity.
If you just say you want “more money,” you can find a penny on the ground and the subconscious will be satisfied.
So be specific!
Another thing that I notice with my students is that they come into my program and set goals like, “I want to get out of $10K of debt.”
But what you probably didn’t realize is that when you do this, you’re sending a message to your subconscious mind about MORE DEBT.
Whatever you focus on expands, so if you’re putting all of your energy and your focus on the debt, you’ll likely create more of it.
So instead of saying “get out of debt,” think about a specific number you’d like to have after you’ve paid it off.
For example, if you have $10K of debt and you’d like to instead have $10K in your bank account, set your goal like this:
“I am so happy and grateful I made $20K.”
Put your focus on what you want.
What dollar amount would be amazing to attract?
Can you tune into the vibration of how it will feel when you reach it?
What actions do you need to take to get there?
6. Practice Gratitude For An Abundance Mindset
An abundance mindset starts with being grateful for what you already have.
If you have a roof over your head, water to drink, food to eat, and air to breathe, and an internet connection to read this post and connect… you already have A LOT to be grateful for!
When you practice gratitude, you keep yourself at a high vibration, which allows more and more abundance to come your way.
Also, as you’re working on your abundance mindset, make sure that you’re noticing and practicing gratitude for all the different forms of abundance that come your way through gifts, surprises, support, and other blessings. Abundance doesn’t necessarily have to show up as money.
Did a co-worker bring you a coffee? That’s a form of abundance.
Or maybe friends and family showed up to help you move? Look at how abundantly supported you are!
A cashier randomly gives you a 20% discount? Abundance!
The inner gifts and talents within you that you can use? ULTIMATE ABUNDANCE.
As you can see, the more you work on your abundance mindset, you’ll be able to pick up on ALL the forms of abundance that are happening around you all the time.
Keep track of these and journal about how grateful you are.
The more you practice gratitude for these things, the more they’ll keep showing up.
Another tip I have for practicing gratitude that I don’t see mentioned often is to have gratitude for what’s here today AND for what’s coming.
When I manifested my first $100K month, I was using a technique called scripting to practice gratitude not just for the present, but for the future.
I’d journal things like, “I’m so happy and grateful to be celebrating my first $100K month.”
By feeling the energy of gratitude in the present and applying it to the future, you can make it inevitable that your intentions become a reality!
(You can watch this video on how I manifested my first $100K month to learn all about it!)
7. Invest in Yourself
When you’re first building an abundance mindset, investing in yourself can seem scary.
This is because every time you go outside your comfort zone, you have to face the invisible wall of fear that your mind puts up between you and any kind of change.
But part of building an abundance mindset is going for the opportunities that show up to grow you, knowing that there’s an unlimited amount of abundance out there… if you’re willing to go for it.
Every time I make a big investment in myself, something HUGE happens.
That’s why whenever I make a big investment in my business, I ask myself:
Do I want this experience?
Is this important to me?
Will this grow my abundance over time?
And once I decide to invest, I tell myself, “I can make it back.”
I remember when I was 19, I had this inkling that I wanted to be a stylist.
I had no connections. No money. I’d never done photography. I’d never worked in fashion.
Still, I KNEW that it was something I was supposed to do.
I was reading fashion magazines and when I looked at people who were in the position I wanted to be in — for example, stylists for Vogue — I noticed that every successful stylist had a portfolio.
I figured out that I needed beautiful photos, and I needed to get a website up.
So I decided to invest in a Macbook Pro. I put it on a credit card and at the time, it felt like spending a million dollars to me. I was only beginning to cultivate my abundance mindset, but I decided to go all-in.
A few weeks later, someone found me online and paid me $600 for my first gig! I felt like a millionaire!
Years later, I realized I wanted to do so much more than just help people with their image through clothes… I wanted to bring YES SUPPLY to life.
So I decided to invest in a course. I still remember my finger shaking as I hit that “buy” button. I had NO proof it would work out.
But just like I always do, I told myself “I’m going to make this work. It’ll be worth it. It’ll come back tenfold. It’ll come back times 50!”
Now, when I feel fear, I know that it’s normal… it’s just my body’s emotional response. I can feel fear around something and still wildly succeed, because I know I’ve been there before.
Our bodies are designed to keep us safe.
Our souls are expansive.
When you feel fear, it has nothing to do with your potential.
You can channel that fear into excitement and use it to defy your past, your story, and everything you’ve been told in order to create the life that you want.
The first thing that helped me shift into an abundance mindset was giving myself permission to want more, so allow me to do the same for you:
Good people like you deserve to make money.
Remember that money is just a tool that expands who you already are.
When you make more money, you can do more good in the world. You can donate more, help more people, employ more people, and be a good example for the people you love. I go deeper on this in my mastermind, Manifest Money for Good™.
