Coaches, are you struggling to show up online because of fear of being seen? It’s so important to get comfortable being seen as you market and grow your coaching business. Here’s how I was able to get past the fear of being seen and show up fully for my audience and my clients!
If you’re someone who’s serious about being a mindset coach or online influencer, it’s SO important to create a personal brand where you’re comfortable showing up, being yourself, sharing who you are, and allowing people to get to know you and be magnetized to you.
The beauty of becoming a coach is that you get to live your best life, share how you created it, and help others do the same.
(That’s why it’s the best job in the world!!)
Now, showing up online is a daily occurrence for me — and being seen as something that comes easily.
I can hit the “live” button, not knowing 100% what I’m going to say, and speak off the cuff to create transformation in people’s lives. It’s even easy for me to get on stage and speak to 100+ people.
…But when I started my coaching business, it was the complete opposite.
I wasn’t just afraid of being seen…
I was nervous to speak to more than two people at a time.
I hated the way I looked and I was afraid to show my face on Instagram, so I’d just post inspirational quotes.
And I’d literally SHAKE with fear before going onstage. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest, and had overwhelming anxiety about it.
My mind was full of self-defeating thoughts about how I wasn’t pretty enough, I didn’t have the right clothes, that no one was going to listen to me, and that I’d never been a successful coach.
“Who are you to do this?” I’d tell myself.
I KNEW that I was going to have to change my energy and change my thoughts to become the person I wanted to be.
How I Got Over Fear of Being Seen By Creating My “YES”
Here at YES SUPPLY, we teach that the first step in any kind of transformation is to create your YES – Your Envisioned Success.
This is the ideal future you want to step into.
The perfect question to start this process with is:
“What would you ask for if you knew the answer would be YES?”
My YES was that I wanted to become a successful mindset coach.
I wanted to prove the disbelievers wrong — and really, prove my own disbelief wrong — and become an example for myself and others that ANYTHING is possible.
By focusing on this goal, I was able to keep stepping forward, even when I was afraid of being seen, and build the confidence to keep going.
I wouldn’t have a million-dollar coaching business today if I hadn’t made those shifts to get comfortable being seen…
…So I want to share with you my process so that you can get over the fear of being seen and magnetize the dream clients who are looking for you!
1) Shift Your Mindset Around Talking About Yourself
The first tip I want to share with you is to stop believing that talking about yourself makes you narcissistic or full of yourself.
This is a common belief that a lot of coaches get stuck on, and it’s not true at all!
In fact, showing up as a coach, being seen, and showing people what’s possible is one of the most selfless things you can do.
Your story is one of your most powerful, and transformational tools as you grow your platform, and influence thousands!
If you’re into manifestation and the Universal Laws, you might’ve heard of the Universal Law of Divine Oneness, which states that we are all connected.
When I learned this, it really shifted how I decided to show up online.
I started realizing that there is no separation between me and anyone else. We are all energy, and therefore, we are all connected!
- When I’m supporting others, I’m supporting the Universe.
- When I’m helping someone else, I’m really helping a part of myself.
This helped me not worry so much about being judged, because I realized we’re all working together like one larger organic community.
When you come from a place of giving, knowing there’s no separation between any of us, then you can see the people you’re sharing with as if they’re part of your family, and it becomes so much easier to show up with the right energy and be of service.
Your audience is suddenly more drawn to you, and connected to you and your success takes a quantum leap!
2) Stay Focused on Your Purpose
My next tip for you is to remember that there was a reason you were called to do this work and see it as your purpose and your duty.
When I founded YES SUPPLY, I knew that my purpose was SO much bigger than me, and that’s what called me to action and helped me get past the fear of being seen.
If you want to share how you’ve shifted your money mindset, reached a fitness goal, or created your dream relationship… just know deep in your heart that the reason you want to share your story is that there are people who need to hear it!
Whenever you’re feeling afraid of being seen, remember:
The lives you’re going to change are MUCH more important than your fear of what someone might say about you.
Your purpose is bigger than you, so keep letting it call you forward!
3) Always Speak to ONE Person
When someone is watching your content online, it’s not like they’re in a room of hundreds of people… they’re probably at home by themselves, endlessly scrolling, looking for something to inspire them.
So whenever I show up live online to give tips, education, or advice, I always hold the image of ONE person in my mind’s eye and pretend I’m speaking to them.
This takes the fear of being seen away because instead of feeling like HUNDREDS of people are watching, you can imagine you’re just speaking to one friend you really care about. This helps people feel even more connected to you!
When I do life or make a video, I just pretend I’m face-timing a friend I really care about and giving them tips to help them in their life or business ❤️
So think about who it is that you want to help through your work, and envision that person as you speak to your phone or your camera lens.
As you plan and speak through your content, ask yourself the following questions:
What are they struggling with?
How can you help them?
What do they most need to hear from you right now?
Hold that person in your mind’s eye, let them feel like you’re speaking directly to them, and give the advice you always wished you knew.
I love to give the advice and tips that I WISH someone had shared with me.
Maybe not everybody will receive it, but if you can change one person’s day, or shift their perspective of the world, then you’ve done your job.
That’s all you need to focus on – that one person whose life you can change with your content.
4) Don’t Worry About Being Judged
When I first started the YES SUPPLY, I was SO afraid of what people would think of me.
I had been working in fashion — which was what everyone expected from me — so moving into mindset work meant showing a completely new side of me.
I worried that my friends from my old fashion job or even my old friends from high school would think I was being cheesy or fake.
But once I decided this was my passion and purpose, I had to ask myself:
Rather than worrying about what other people think of me, what do I think of me?
Who’s the version of me that would make me the proudest?
What will my legacy be at the end of my life? What do I want to be able to say I’ve done?
It’s time I make my opinion of me the most important one!
I realized that I should never have to play small to fit into the box of other people’s expectations.
The beautiful thing?
Once I chose this path, the people I thought would judge me became my biggest supporters!
People from high school AND from my old fashion job have signed up for my programs, and some of them have even ended up working for YES SUPPLY and working alongside our mission. ❤️
So give people in your life the benefit of the doubt.
Seeing you go after your dreams might just be what inspires them to do the same.
5) Use Mindset Techniques to Release The Fear of Being Seen
One of the best tools that helped me get over my fear of being seen was hypnosis.
Hypnosis allows you to tap into the subconscious mind, reframe and upgrade your self-image, and see yourself as someone who confidently speaks up!
If you are in the identity of someone who plays small or hides, you’ll never be comfortable being center stage.
But with hypnosis, you can create a new self-image. You can start to see yourself as a leader, or as the founder of an empire. Once you start showing up as that person, you’ll start getting those results, and being seen will come more and more naturally to you.
Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT Tapping, is another great tool to use to get over your fear of being seen. Tapping on energy meridian points rebalances the signals that are being sent to the brain, which can help you feel better in a matter of minutes.
If you’re nervous about being seen, right before getting on a stage or making a video, then try using this tapping ritual right before you do a Livestream to release anxiety!
If you try it, let me know in the comments how it felt for you!
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is another modality that was huge in my journey to becoming a leader and getting over my fear of being seen. NLP is the language of the mind, and you can use it to tap into the subconscious mind and make powerful shifts quickly.
I used NLP to step into the identity of a well-spoken leader and coach, and you can use the NLP techniques in this video to empower yourself to step into the leader you want to be, too!
Using neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), hypnosis, energy work, and EFT Tapping have helped me overcome my fears and negative emotions and step into my Higher Self.
If you want to use these powerful and life-changing techniques to get past the fear of being seen, the YES SUPPLY Method is the perfect place to learn them!
